Ellen B. Resnick is a seasoned litigator with wide experience having been associated with the firm for more than 30 years. Ms. Resnick has been a key part of the firm’s success in its representation of clients in investigations, trials and appeals.

Notable in her career is being the first to survive summary judgment on the theory that the City of New York was liable on a Monell claim for the sexual abuse of an inmate at Rikers Island. Jane Doe v. City of New York, 2018 WL 6095847 (S.D.N.Y. 2018). Ms. Resnick was also critical to the firm’s victory before the U.S. Supreme Court in a case construing a provision of the newly enacted Antiterrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act of 1996 (AEDPA). Artuz v. Bennett, 531 U.S. 4, 121 S.Ct. 361 (2000).

Prior to joining the Law Offices of Alan S. Futerfas, Ellen was an associate at a prestigious corporate law firm.
