Interviews
In this video Andrea Giovino interviews criminal defense attorney Bettina Schein. Bettina represented Andrea when she was arrested in 1992 on organized crime RICO charges. She also recalls her first day at work being assigned to the case of John Gotti and John Carneglia.
Bettina Schein worked pro bono for 15 years to free Jaime Davidson from three life sentences for a crime he did not commit. The founder of Reggaeton, Mr. Davidson was a young black Panamanian man who performed this new music at colleges and clubs. In 1992, Mr. Davidson was prosecuted by the DEA and federal authorities for a heinous drug related murder that he had nothing to do with. In January 2021, after reviewing a 50 page submission with numerous corroborating documents and witness statements, including witnesses recanting their prior testimony as false, President Donald J. Trump commuted Mr. Davidson’s sentence to time served. Mr. Davidson had already served 29 years.

In 1988, Ms. Schein’s firm represented Tim Richmond, a famous NASCAR driver, when NASCAR sought to preclude him from racing in the Daytona 500 on the grounds that he failed a drug test. She sued for $20 million and proved that he had simply used allergy medication. The case was settled. Read article here.
